What is an activation code?

An Amazon Prime Video activation code is a 6-digit code the Prime Video app shows on your TV. You enter it at amazon.com/mytv to link the TV to your Amazon account.

Why you need a new code

Activation codes are only good for about 10 minutes. After that, or after a failed attempt, you must ask the TV to produce a fresh 6-digit code before amazon.com/mytv will let you sign in.

Generate a new code on any device

Close the Prime Video app

Press Home on your remote, then fully close Prime Video. On Fire TV, press and hold Home > Apps > Prime Video > Force stop.

Reopen the app

Launch Prime Video again. A fresh 6-digit code appears on the sign-in screen.

Go to amazon.com/mytv

Open a browser, visit amazon.com/mytv, and sign in with your Amazon account.

Enter the new code within 10 minutes

Type the code carefully and click Continue.

Device-specific tips

Highlight Prime Video on the home ribbon, press Options or the star key, and choose Close app. Reopen it for a new amazon.com/mytv code.
Press and hold Home, choose Apps, highlight Prime Video, press the Menu button, then Force stop.
From the home screen, highlight the Prime Video channel, press the star (*) button, and choose Remove channel. Reinstall it, then use amazon.com/mytv with the new code.
Double-press the TV button, swipe up on Prime Video to close it, then reopen for a new code.
Highlight Prime Video, press Options (PS) or Menu (Xbox), and choose Close. Relaunching produces a new amazon.com/mytv code.
If the same code keeps returning, restart the device fully (power off for 60 seconds) before opening Prime Video again.
